Description
With talons extended and eyes on target this young male Bald Eagle makes his landing approach after circling a small lake in search of fish.
An eagle's talons are among the strongest of all birds of prey. The word "raptor" comes from the Latin "Rapere," meaning to grip or grasp. Like all raptors, eagles capture food exclusively with their feet, and in most cases carry the live food off to be eaten alive.
