Description
Idaho Falls was built around a series of rapids on the Snake River. In 1900 a small turbine generator was built on a canal to power the city's streetlights, and soon after a 1,200 foot long diversion dam was constructed. Water on the upstream side of the dam flows through a hydroelectric plant, but plenty of water still pours over the top of the dam and onto the rocks below.
