Description
The Great Egret is a large, all white heron. They stand up to three-feet tall with a wingspan of up to 67 inches and weigh an average of 2-1/4 pounds. They can be found throughout most of North and South America, as well as southern Africa and Europe. They feed in shallow water or drier areas, and primarily eat fish, frogs, and small mammals, though they occasionally eat small reptiles and insects.
Everglades National Park is part of the United States National Park Service. It is located in southern Florida. It is the largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi River, and the third largest national park in the continental United States. It was created in 1934 to protect the unique ecosystems.
