Description
A chorus line? A Weight Watchers meeting? Humans have the uncanny ability to see many different things in random formations of nature. What do you see here?
Capitol Reef National Park is located in south central Utah and is commonly traversed, but seldom explored, when traveling Highway 12 between Bryce Canyon and Arches National Parks. Often overlooked, this park is a hidden gem among Utah's National Parks.
Capitol Reef was named for a line of white domes that reminded early explorers of the United States Capitol building and the 100 miles of impassable cliffs of the Waterpocket Fold which was dubbed a reef by the explorers due to their nautical background.
Along with the impressive rock cliffs, the park is also home to natural bridges, narrow canyons, natural bridges, and twisted trees, as well as signs of human settlement from ancient Pueblo petroglyphs to Mormon barns and orchards which still offer fruit to visitors.
