Description
Architectural detail of Wellington Station in Wellington, New Zealand.
Wellington Station is the biggest station in New Zealand. Opened in 1937, it is a classical design by the architectural firm Gray Young, Morton & Young. It was the first major structure in New Zealand to incorporate a significant measure of earthquake resistance. It was refurbished between 2003 and 2008, including seismic retrofitting restoration, and refurbishment. In 1986 it was registered as a Category I Historic Place.
It was built as the head office of the New Zealand Railways Department, and is currently the Wellington office of it's successor, the New Zealand Railways Corporation. It also houses the Victoria University of Wellington and the New World Railway Metro supermarket.
If you do not purchase framing, note that this is a non-standard crop and will need to be custom framed.
