Description
Did you know that a fire engine and a fire truck are not the same thing? Firefighting apparatus is a term that covers any vehicle that is specialized for firefighting operations. A fire engine, or pumper, is the most common type of apparatus you'll see in your standard city fire station. These vehicles can pump water and carry hoses, and often ladders, and their crews. Fire trucks are the ones that have large built-in extendable ladders on top. Then you have the tankers and water tenders, vehicles that deliver large volumes of water to a fire and feed the fire engines, but have no pumps themselves. Then you have vehicles called Quints, which combine several functions, usually combining the pump an hoses of an engine with the ladder of a truck.

Darin Volpe, As Mrs Santa I had the HONOR of going behind the scenes in the Fire Station as well watching the firefighters put on apparatus and serve our community w/ their help to light the community hometown holiday tree. I was blown away not only how much gear they access &/or carry, but the weight of it also. It was incredible. Thank You for sharing this photo & Apparatus detail. You are encouraged to bring FIRE APPARATUS over to a DISCUSSION w/ URL links & conversation... Hoping others will join the discussion... ACL, Advocacy Art & Change, Art CHANGES Lives, GJ glorijean
