Description
Sometimes you just don't know what you're looking at. This butterfly was at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, but did not match any of the photos on the list of butterflies on display. Google proved inconclusive. Some websites called it a Tiger longwing butterfly, others a Numata longwing, and various others had photos that were close, but not quite the same. Of course there were also countless sites that either didn't identify the photo at all or had it horribly mislabeled.
So, rather than put yet another page on the web with an incorrect identification, I'll just call this a black and orange winged butterfly with a yellow striped body. If any entomologists come across this page and give me a correct ID, i would be grateful.
