Description
Baldwin Locomotive Works built SP 2472 in 1921 and traveled the rails of the Southern Pacific Railroad until 1957. Making the steam for all those years and miles used a lot of fuel and even more water. That's where this Vanderbilt tender comes in, carrying 12,000 gallons of water to be boiled into the steam that pushes the train.
