Description
Six-year old Richard Woodruff walked into the Bob's Pantry diner in 1937 as owner Bob Wian was trying to name his new hamburger. Bob greeted him with "Hello, Big Boy" and the burger, and eventually "Bob's Big Boy" restaurants, got their names. The modern Big Boy mascot came about in 1956 and became the model for the large fiberglass statues that could be found at the entrance of restaurants around the country.
The Ford Thunderbird entered production for the 1955 model year. Unlike the recently introduced Corvette, Ford marketed the Thunderbird as a two seat personal luxury car rather than a sports car. The 1957 model photographed here was the last version of the first generation. After 1957 Ford added a second row of seats and enlarged the Thunderbird continually through to the 1970's. Ford stepped production stopped in 1997, but reintroduced it in 2002 as a retro-styled two-seater. This model was produced for four years, and no new Thunderbird has been manufactured since 2005.
