Description
Diablo Dam holds back the water of the Skagit River in the North Cascades National Park Complex in Washington state.
Diablo Lake is part of the four unit North Cascades National Park Complex: The North Cascades National Park North Unit meets the Canadian border and the South Unit reaches down to the Lake Chelan National Recreation Area section of the complex. The two National Park units are bisected by the Ross Lake National Recreation Area, which is where most visitors travel through on Washington State Highway 20.
The three dams and reservoirs on the Skagit River are located in the Ross Lake National Recreation area. Diablo Lake is a 910 acre reservoir behind the Diablo Dam between the Gorge Dam to the west and the Ross Dam to the east. These dams make up the Skagit River Hydroelectric Project which supplies power for the City of Seattle.
