Artist's Description
Every time I visit Oso Flaco Lake near Guadalupe, California, I see at least one of these magnificent pelicans. This one was cruising along the surface feeding. Unlike the Brown Pelicans more common to the area that dive for fish from the sky, the American White Pelican swims along the surface and dips its beak into the water to catch fish and other aquatic life.
