Artist's Description
Wisps of water separate from the main waterfall where Laturell creek makes a rapid 224-foot change in elevation.
Lower Latourell Falls is unique among the waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge in that the water falls straight down, with no contact at all with the Earth at all until it crashes into the rocks below. This spectacular waterfall in the Columbia River National Scenic Area is the first you'll come to when leaving Portland on the old Columbia River Highway. It is my favorite of them all, as the water drops past an incredible display of columnar basalt cliffs on its way to the highly textured rocks at the bottom.
The white fall of water plunges to the bottom of the Columbia River Gorge in the Guy W Talbot State Park, about 30 miles east of Portland, Oregon. A quarter-mile trail leads from the road to the foot of the waterfall.

I have been photographing the things I see for over thirty years. A resident of San Luis Obispo County, I'm lucky to have many excellent photo destinations within a few minutes' or hours' drive. Beyond the local area, I have traveled throughout California and the western United States, visited far away American destinations such as Chicago, New York, Florida, and Alaska, and international destinations in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. My photography varies from Architecture to Industrial Art to Nature to Wildlife and I'm sure you'll find something suitable for your home or office. Visit my blog
