The Pacific Gopher Snake is a nonvenomous snake native to the West Coast of North America from southern British Columbia to Mexico. Adults range in size from 2-1/2 to 7 feet in length, with most falling between 4-1/2 to 5 feet. They prefer drier habitats such as fields, meadows, and farmland. Their diet consists of small mammals, birds and eggs, and occasionally lizards and insects. Pacific gopher snakes live from twelve to fifteen years in the wild.
