Artist's Description
It's hard ignore the thousands of Northern Elephant Seals on the beaches north of San Simeon, California. Each year since 1990 they have been coming to these stretches of beach to molt, mate, and bear their young. Located about 40 miles north of the seaside community of Morro Bay and five miles from San Simeon, this stretch of beach has seen the population increase from a few dozen to over 23,000 by 2015. Viewing boardwalks are built high above the sand, giving visitors an incredible view of one of natures grand spectacles.
