You're put it in your shopping cart, clicked buy now, and selected UPS Ground shipping. Now it's up to UPS and the BNSF Railroad to get it to your door.
After being loaded at at the retailer and taken to the nearest UPS hub, if it's traveling more than 400 miles to get to you there's a good chance it's going to get put on a train.
This BNSF train is climbing over the Tehachapi Mountains on its way out of California's Central Valley. Trains hauling UPS trailers and containers are some of the hottest on the rails. Railroaders talk of all other trains moving out of their way. This one is headed by two General Electric "GEVO" locomotives, an ES44AC in front of an ES44C4.
