CM007A was the first production-line Apollo Command Module delivered to NASA by North American Aviation. It never flew, but was used for testing and training. Its original configuration was updated after the tragic Apollo 1 fire to integrate the required modifications. Between 1966 and 1973, CM007 participated in splashdown tests, water egress training, and served as Jim Lovell, Stuart Roosa, and Charlie Duke's home through a 48-hour open water test, among other tests. It continued service into the Skylab years before being put into storage.
Having never flown in space, this test space capsule allows museum visitors to see the stainless-steel skin as it appeared before being ravished by reentry.
I have been photographing the things I see for over thirty years. A resident of San Luis Obispo County, I'm lucky to have many excellent photo destinations within a few minutes' or hours' drive. Beyond the local area, I have traveled throughout California and the western United States, visited far away American destinations such as Chicago, New York, Florida, and Alaska, and international destinations in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. My photography varies from Architecture to Industrial Art to Nature to Wildlife and I'm sure you'll find something suitable for your home or office. Visit my blog
