Description
Look! I'm a Harp! This pelican was perched on a lamppost in a small coastal town just south of Sydney, Australia.
The Australian Pelican lives in the coastal and inland waters of Australia and New Guinea, and is also found in Fiji, parts of Indonesia, and can occasionally even be found in New Zealand. It is predominately white, with black wings and a very large pink bill. It is a medium-sized pelican, most weighing between ten and seventeen pounds with a wingspan of 7-1/2 to 8-1/2 feet. However, it has the largest bill of any bird.
