Description
"There's a place on the lake where you can catch a trout, and without even taking it off your hook you can dip it in a hole sticking out of the water and have it cooked for lunch right there!"
It may sound like a fish story, but this is one where there was no exaggeration. Fishing Cone is a hot spring near the shore of Yellowstone Lake, and until the practice was banned in 1912 anglers could indeed stand on the small island, catch a fish in the cold waters of the lake, and dip it into the spring to have boiled trout on the spot.
The fish was never, of course, quite as big as the fishermen claimed.
