Standing on a hill in ShoreLine Aquatic Park in Long Beach is the ten-story Lions Lighthouse for Sight. Since the club's founding in 1917, preventing blindness, restoring eyesight, and improving eye health has been an important mission of the organization. The lighthouse, built in 2000, serves as a reminder of that mission.

This photograph was shot in the early morning in Long Beach, California. I selected a fisheye lens to create an unusual curving scene and placed the sun to shine though the lantern room. The camera was set up for indoor lighting which enhanced the blues and created the dark dramatic look.

I have been photographing the things I see for over thirty years. A resident of San Luis Obispo County, I'm lucky to have many excellent photo destinations within a few minutes' or hours' drive. Beyond the local area, I have traveled throughout California and the western United States, visited far away American destinations such as Chicago, New York, Florida, and Alaska, and international destinations in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
