Description
This power station is part of the remains of what is believed to have been a Nazi camp, located in the hills of Pacific Palisades, California.
Murphy's Ranch was built in the Los Angeles hills in the mid 1930s as the world headquarters of the Silver Legion of America, an underground American facist organization modeled after Hitler's Brownshirts. It was intended to be self-sustaining and consisted of a large water storage tank, a bomb shelter, power station, and various outbuildings and bunkers. After the declaration of war by Germany in 1941, local police occupied the compound.
It later became an artist's colony from 1951 to 1965, and in 1978 all burnable structures were destroyed by the Mandeville Canyon fire. As of 2012, all that remained were concrete ruins.
