Photo from the Blue Mesa Road at Petrified Forest National Park.
Petrified Forest National Park is located in eastern Arizona. The park is best known for its deposits of petrified wood and spectacular desert terrain. Over 200 million years ago, what is now Petrified Forest National Park was near the equator with a humid and sub-tropical climate. Streams deposited sediment into what is now called the Chinle Formation over a period from about 200- to 230-million years ago. Land movement and erosion over the next several million years carved the landscape and created the Painted Desert that is seen today.

I have been photographing the things I see for over thirty years. A resident of San Luis Obispo County, I'm lucky to have many excellent photo destinations within a few minutes' or hours' drive.
