Pepper Tree Ornament No. 2 -- Anna's Hummingbird in Templeton, California Canvas Print

This Anna's Hummingbird was perched deep in a pepper tree guarding his feeder. I photographed it through the leaves and branches, which created the soft focus where the out-of-focus leaves in the foreground covered elements behind them.

Anna's Hummingbirds are the most common of all hummingbirds along the west coast of California. Their brilliant colors are created when light strikes their prismatic feathers from the front.

I have been photographing the things I see for over thirty years. A resident of San Luis Obispo County, I'm lucky to have many excellent photo destinations within a few minutes' or hours' drive.
