Description
A POW-MIA flag flies among four United States flags on the Los Angeles city hall building, a reminder of our soldiers who never came home.
Conceived in 1971 during the Vietnam War, the POW-MIA symbol was officially recognized by Congress on August 10, 1990 and designated "a symbol of our Nation's concern and commitment to resolving as fully as possible the fates of Americans still prisoner, missing, and unaccounted for in Southeast Asia." Its symbolism has been extended to include POW/MIAs from all wars.
