Description
On the eastern shore of Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains of California you'll find the largest large aperture and highest resolution solar telescope in the world. The lake provides a natural inversion which reduces atmospheric turbulence, making for clearer images. The telescope is further equipped with a deformable mirror, a computer-controlled optical system with over 350 actuators that push and pull on a thin mirror to compensate for any remaining image distortion.
