Description
A Bombardier 415 water bomber dips into the Bay of Villefranche near Nice, France, to fill up it's water tanks. The firefighting aircraft can scoop up over 1,000 gallons of water in seconds before lifting back into the air, giving it the nickname "Super Scooper."
This airplane was delivered to the French civil defense agency in 1996. The agency operates twelve such amphibious "flying boats" (aircraft that are designed to land in water directly on the fuselage instead of on pontoons) for firefighting operations.
