Artist's Description

Opposite the iridescent scales on the top of the Blue Morpho butterfly wings are what look like several pairs of eyes. When landed, the Morpho's wings close to show the more earthy tones of the underside. This lets them blend in better with their environment, and to present what might look to a predator like the eyes of several other creatures that are best avoided.
