Description
The Goddess of Speed, in various styles, graced the hoods of Packard automobiles from 1939 until at least the late 40's. By that time she was so stylized that she hardly resembled a goddess - or even a human figure - at all. The hood ornament was based on the Greek goddess Nike, the Greek goddess of speed, strength, and victory.
This goddess leaps off a Packard radiator cap at the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar, California.
