Description
Mere mortals see the water fall, but the spirits know the truth. The phantom rises high, upward towards the sky. It's not just mist, it's not just water,... it's the spirit of the river.
Pareidolia is the phenomenon of seeing faces and other familiar forms in random shapes. It's was makes you see dragons in clouds, a face on a tree, or even spirits in waterfalls. We know there is no spirit rising from the river, but can pareidolia explain away the paranormal visions that many profess to have experienced?
Water drops 224 feet over Latourell Falls in Oregon's Columbia River Gorge. The low flow of the creek provides a wispy white veil to the columnar basalt formations behind on this late summer day.
