On a small country road off of near Coalinga, California, is a house that has been forgotten by time. But from around 1958 to 1984 children's growth was marked on a small section of wall near the top of a staircase.
I came across this abandoned house while on one of my many trips exploring random back roads. When I entered, I was amazed with what I found. There were old pots on the stove, a jar of Sanka in the pantry, and a few pieces of abandoned furniture. Mostly it was full of magazines and newspapers from the mid 1980's strewn about the floor. But what was most surprising was that there were no traces of vagrant activity at all. It was as if the house was ransacked in the '80's and then left forgotten for over twenty years.
I have been photographing the things I see for over thirty years. A resident of San Luis Obispo County, I'm lucky to have many excellent photo destinations within a few minutes' or hours' drive. Beyond the local area, I have traveled throughout California and the western United States, visited far away American destinations such as Chicago, New York, Florida, and Alaska, and international destinations in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. My photography varies from Architecture to Industrial Art to Nature to Wildlife and I'm sure you'll find something suitable for your home or office. Visit my blog

So touching, Darin. It stirs the imagination. Great perspective and love the monochrome that gives it age.v
