This is a link in a chain fence separating the parking lot from the sea in the Presidio of San Francisco.

The Presidio is managed jointly by the Presidio Trust, a US Government Corporation, and the National Park Service. The National Park Service manages the coastal areas while the majority of the park is managed by the Presidio Trust. The Trust was created in 1996 with the objective of being financially self-sufficient by 2013, and met that goal only ten years later and seven years ahead of schedule. It balances public access to the park and its historic buildings with the need to rent commercial and residential tenants. The Presidio is the only US national recreation area with an extensive residential leasing program.

I have been photographing the things I see for over thirty years. A resident of San Luis Obispo County, I'm lucky to have many excellent photo destinations within a few minutes' or hours' drive. Beyond the local area, I have traveled throughout California and the western United States, visited far away American destinations such as Chicago, New York, Florida, and Alaska, and international destinations in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
