Description
Winston was born in the Congo, Africa, in approximately 1972. The young gorilla was raised from a baby in England and transferred to the San Diego Zoo in May of that year where he lived until 1984, after which he moved to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
Gorillas are know as gentle creatures, and Winston is no exception. He is known for his sweet desposition, polite manners, and according to the keepers at the Safari Park, likes everyone. In 2017 he underwent an extensive exam due to concerns that he may have developed cardiac problems. He was under general anesthesia for 90 minutes while a team of human and veterinary cardiac specialists performed an electrocardiogram and echocardiogram to check his heart, and other specialists examined his kidneys and liver and preformed a dental exam. He was found to be in good health overall, and since then he has continued to watch over his troop
