Artist's Description
This photo was shot on film in Morro Bay in 1993. I set the tripod up on top of a picnic table, pointed my old Nikon EL-2 towards the boats in the bay, and left the shutter open for a few minutes.
The glow was caused by squid boats in the sea beyond the sand dunes, which shine high-intensity lights at the ocean surface to bring the squid up. The light made the Morro Bay fog glow in the night while the boats rocked gently back and forth through the exposure.
