Artist's Description

Graffiti covers the cages where animals spent their time while not on display at the old Los Angeles Zoo in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, California.

The current Los Angeles Zoo opened in 1965, but until then the lions and tigers and bears, among others, were housed at the old zoo in Griffith Park. Today, cages from the 1930's still stand, reminders of how far we've come in our treatment of zoo animals over the past 80 years.
