Adrian Fern�ndez and Luis D�az won first place in the LMP2 class in this de Ferran Motorsports Acura ARX-02 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in 2009.

De Ferran Motorsports was owned by 2003 Indianapolis 500 winner Gil de Ferran. In the 2009 racing season it was chosen by Honda Performance Development to run Acura's new ARX-02 car in the American Le Mans Series.

The American Le Mans Series was a sports car racing series in the United States and Canada consisting of a series of endurance and sprint races. In 2014 the series became the United SportsCar Championship when it merged with the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series. The rules in the American Le Mans series were basically the same as the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Modified production sports cars and purpose-built closed-fendered race cars were driven by multiple drivers and all cars competed together simultaneously.
