Lobster traps are stacked high on the docks as the small community of L'Étang-du-Nord prepares for the opening day of lobster season on the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine (also known as the Magdalen Islands) is an island group on the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The island of Cap aux Meules is the second largest and has the highest population. L'Étang-du-Nord is on the west side of the island and home to a small fishing harbor.

I have been photographing the things I see for over thirty years. A resident of San Luis Obispo County, I'm lucky to have many excellent photo destinations within a few minutes' or hours' drive. Beyond the local area, I have traveled throughout California and the western United States, visited far away American destinations such as Chicago, New York, Florida, and Alaska, and international destinations in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
