Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument was established in southern Utah by President Bill Clinton in 1996. It is the largest of all National Monuments in the United States at nearly 3,000 square miles. The monument borders Capitol Reef National Park on the north, Bryce Canyon National Park on the west, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area on the east, and Grand Canyon National Park on the south. It was the first National Monument to be managed by the Bureau of Land Management (most are managed by the National Park Service.)

I have been photographing the things I see for over thirty years. A resident of San Luis Obispo County, I'm lucky to have many excellent photo destinations within a few minutes' or hours' drive. Beyond the local area, I have traveled throughout California and the western United States, visited far away American destinations such as Chicago, New York, Florida, and Alaska, and international destinations in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand.
