Description
Death Valley is one of the most inhospitable landscapes on Earth. It holds the record for the highest temperature ever recorded, 137°F, the highest ground temperature at 201°F, and the highest low temperature at 110°F. It averages only 1.9 inches of rain per year, and has seen years with no rain at all.
At 282 feet below sea level, Badwater Basin in Death Valley National Park is the lowest point in the North America. Being the low point, water that enters the basin does not flow out but instead evaporates and leaves salt and any other minerals behind.
