Description
From the valley floor, the Teton Range thrusts out of the ground for an elevation gain of up to 6,987 feet in only about 2-1/2 miles. Thousands of people travel to Grand Teton National Park each year to attempt to reach the top of one of the mountain peaks.
This September day, however, was not a good one for a climb. Storm clouds and fog surrounded the mountains, dumping rain on the jagged peaks and the valley below. Perhaps in a million years or so that rain, along with wind and snow, will have rounded off some of those rocks, but for now the jagged peaks remain one of the most dramatic mountain ranges in the United States.
