Description
Food. Shelter. Sex. They're three basic human needs, and they're all conveniently located next door to each other on the 700 block of 8th Avenue in New York City.
I stayed at the New York Inn on a train trip to New York City. I wasn't expecting much - after all, I had picked the cheapest place within walking distance of Penn Station - but the review stating "This is a good place to take a hooker for an hour" should have clued me in that this would be even worse than I could imagine. Room only a foot in each direction bigger than the bed? Check. Wallpaper falling off the wall? Check. Mouse traps in the corners? Check. Next time, maybe I'll get the second cheapest place instead.
You can tell you’re staying in a classy place when your hotel is sandwiched between a Subway restaurant and an adult novelties shop complete with a live peep show. I'm sure nobody but a visitor to the city would notice this sort of thing; New Yorkers certainly ignore the scene as they walk by or scoot on past in a taxi cab.
