Description
"This isn't quite what I was expecting when you said we were signing up on a Princess ship..."
If traveling with 4,000 of your closest friends on a floating hotel isn't adventurous enough for you, sign up for a trip aboard a freighter. It will be you, a couple of dozen crew, and up to twelve other adventurers crossing your choice of the seven seas to exotic ports of call that may or may not be found in the luxury cruise lines' glossy brochure. Of course those ports can be weeks across the oceans, so be prepared for a slower pace of travel without the luxuries of casinos and stage shows. But no worries about winding up on the Lodestar Princess - most passenger carrying cargo ships are container vessels almost three times her size.
The Lodestar Princess is a bulk carrier, a type of ship designed to transport cargo such as grains, coal, or, and similar products unpackaged in the cargo holds. Specifically, the Lodestar Princess is classified as a "forest product carrier" which carries wood chips or wood pulp. At 19,790 gross tons it is a smaller, or "handysize", ship which can enter smaller ports to pick up or drop off cargo.
