Description
Hundreds of Ross's Geese take to the sky as the sun goes down over the Merced National Wildlife Refuge in central California. The Ross's goose is the smallest of the North American geese. Breeding in the low arctic tundra of Canada, they migrate through the United States and into Mexico.
The was shot with a Nikon D7200 and Nikkor 70-400 AF-D lens at 400mm almost directly into the sun at 1/2000 @ f29 and with an ISO of 3200. The coloration was caused by the sunlight striking the lens head on, causing the green and red lens flare.
